Awesome honeymoon venues in Ghana

MAKING FOREVER MEMORIES

Honeymoons are divine and everyone deserves one. However, the general perception is that you either have to travel out and splurge on your honeymoon. Now that is a misconception. You don’t need to spend so much to have a pretty special honeymoon. Right here in Ghana, there are world-class, aesthetic and serene spots, where you can relax and savour the entire couples’ retreat experience.

Whether it’s out of town or in the bustling cities, Ghana has it all. And believe us when we say there’s plenty to do at these places.
So let’s explore the beautiful Ghanaian scenery…

GHANA’S MOST BEAUTIFUL SPOTS

1. The Royal Senchi

The Royal Senchi is absolutely exquisite. Located in Akosombo, home to Ghana’s oldest electricity hub, it is easily accessible. Right from its majestic entrance, the Royal Senchi is a beautiful sight to behold. They’re the first Ghanaian resort to have a helipad, so you can make a grand entrance with your spouse in a helicopter. The bar, restaurant, pool area, garden and others are architectural masterpieces, you’d gape at the view. In addition to its splendid scenery, there are a number of things you can do to keep you and your partner busy. There is a spa, a nature park, a tennis court, kayaks & pedalos, boat rides, and a first-of-its-kind afrocentric library. Coupled with delicious cuisine, you get to spend the night in their signature river-view bedrooms and suites. One thing though, you need to book early because this haven fills up real fast!

2. Zaina Lodge

Up north is the safari-like Zaina Lodge. Perfect for a getaway, Zaina Lodge shows the Ghana the media hides from us. Its proximity to Mole National Park is an added advantage as you get a panoramic view of the park, from your room. The lodge organizes tours through the park, and the variety of animals you’d encounter would be such a memory. You also get to experience nature with their outdoor shower systems–bathing under the stars. How romantic.

They say the best is from the west, and that’s just right! Loumoon Lodge is located in Ghana’s celebrated highest rainfall zone, Axim. About an hour’s drive from Western region’s capital, Takoradi, Loumoon is a paradise. If you love the beach, then honey this is the place for you. Live in the moment by booking any of their island and bay view rooms, and fall in love all over again. Like the Royal Senchi, they offer boat trips and kayak rides, as well as activities like hiking, archery, football, spa dates and more. Tourist sites like Axim Fort and Ghana’s only village on stilts, Nzulenzu, are also just an hour away 😉

4. Beige Village

Also located within the Eastern Region is Beige Village Golf Resort. It has a wide range of rooms and has a great environment, rich in the greenest of grass. And just as its name, you get to play a lot of golf over there. Then there are other side attractions like organized visits to a waterfall, paragliding, canopy-walks, and of course, spa services. You also get a lot of privacy at Beige Village, with a nice couple dinner setup, just like the picture above. Wonderful!

5. Stone Lodge

“Your country home” is just an hour’s drive from Accra. Near to Shai Hills, Stone Lodge is a unique destination, with an environment that’s nothing like home. It’s a whole new experience in the mountainous areas of the Volta region. Activities available include bicycle riding, which is very romantic for a honeymoon, if you ask us. They have a gift shop that sells several colorful Ghanaian artefacts you could explore. Hiking and mountain climbing give the sporty edge to Stone Lodge. Plus there’s an added bonus of bird watching, if you are a fan of nature. The best part is, as compared to the others listed, Stone Lodge is the most affordable.

Aburi’s finest Peduase Valley Resort is a great choice for making memories. The weather, because it is situated on a mountain, is one of this resort’s exclusive features. Then there is the beauty of the place. You have to see it to believe it, it is breathtaking. It’s even hard to choose between the daytime view and the nightime solitude–a never-ending pleasure. The food is also everything to write home about. Every now and then, the resort arranges for a distinct cuisine to celebrate different cultures worldwide. So you can never really get enough! The swimming pool is huge so you might not want to try it if you cannot swim, but then there’s a basketball court to get you working that body. Plus a petting zoo to keep your love for animals growing. Simply excellent.
